What is the Test de connaissance du français (TCF)?
The TCF (Test de connaissance du français) is administered by France Éducation international. Unlike DELF/DALF, you don't pick a level; you sit one test and receive a score placing you on the CEFR scale from A1 to C2.
It comes in several versions for different goals: TCF Canada (accepted by IRCC for immigration), TCF Québec (for Québec immigration / the CSQ), TCF for study in France (TCF DAP), and the all-purpose TCF tout public.
Mandatory sections are multiple-choice (listening, reading, language structures); writing and speaking are added depending on your purpose. Results are valid for two years, so timing your attempt matters.

Which TCF version do I need?
TCF Canada for federal immigration, TCF Québec for the CSQ, and TCF DAP for university admission in France. EALCH's path adapts to the version you choose.
Do I have to take writing and speaking?
Only if your purpose requires them. The listening, reading, and language-structures sections are always mandatory; writing and speaking are added for immigration and study routes.
